HARRISBURG, PA — A Galloway man will be sentenced March 17 for his involvement in human trafficking in Pennsylvania. Barry Charles Schiff, 52, used drugs to lure victims into prostitution and then control them, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Kenneth James Crowell — Schiff's 35-year-old coconspirator — was sentenced Tuesday to between 39 years, four months and 78 years, eight months in prison.

“Crowell and Schiff exploited vulnerable young women for nearly three years in a sex trafficking organization,” said Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

Authorities began an investigation into human trafficking in April 2017. Troopers worked undercover and responded to online advertisements known for sex trafficking and "arranged dates" with women posted in the ads. Several of the women sought help to escape sex slavery.

A grand jury concluded that Schiff and Cromwell conducted a corrupt organization that put young women into the commercial sex trade. Cromwell posted advertisements and communicated with customers, while Schiff lured and controlled women with drugs.
