Man Admits Raping Sleeping Woman At Atlantic City Bus Terminal

The woman was asleep in the bus terminal's lobby when Eric Williams assaulted her, but the act was caught on camera, authorities said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — An Atlantic City man admitted to raping a sleeping woman inside of a bus terminal, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

For his guilty plea to first-degree aggravated sexual assault, Eric Williams, 56, faces a recommended sentence of 12 years in New Jersey State Prison with 85 percent of that to be served before reaching parole eligibility, authorities said. Williams will also have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and be subject to parole supervision for life.

Williams sexually assaulted the adult woman in the lobby of an Atlantic City bus terminal on May 19, 2022, authorities said. He rectally penetrated her with his fingers and penis, according to officials.

While the woman was asleep at the time of the rape, the act was caught on the terminal's surveillance camera, which lead to Williams being arrested, authorities said.

His sentencing is tentatively scheduled for March 19, 2025.
