Man Had 2,500 Bags Of Heroin In Car: Atlantic City Police

An Atlantic City police K-9 first detected the drugs in the Mays Landing man's car, authorities said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A Mays Landing man had 2,500 bags of heroin in his vehicle, police said. Braheem Norwood surrendered himself to police Thursday, days after police pulled him over.

Atlantic City police pulled him over last Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of Drexel Avenue for a drug investigation. A K-9 detected drugs in his vehicle, police said.

The vehicle was towed to the ACPD tow lot, pending the application for a search warrant. The driver, who wasn't under arrest at the time, left the scene.

Policed obtained a search warrant on Norwood's vehicle and found 2,500 bags of heroin, according to authorities. A warrant was issued, and he surrendered himself to Hamilton Township police.

Norwood, 24, was charged with drug possession, possession with intent to distribute and intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Jail.
