Teen Murder Suspect Escapes From NJ Detention Center

Greater Egg Harbor, Egg Harbor City, Galloway, Hamilton and Mullica schools closed Wednesday as NJ authorities search for escaped teen.

A "dangerous" teen who is a murder suspect remains at-large Wednesday after he and three others escaped from from a youth detention facility in New Jersey. The escape and manhunt prompted local schools to close, according to authorities. Surveillance video shows the escape (see below).

Michael Huggins, 18, was charged in the Oct. 7, 2016 murder of Davonte Lee in Bridgeton. The incident occurred when Huggins was 17, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Huggins is considered dangerous. "If anyone sees him, do not approach and immediately call 911. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Huggins, may contact the Bridgeton Police Department or the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office (during business hours)," according to the CCPO.

Tipsters can also submit an anonymous tip via text to 847411 with CCPOTIP and your tip in the message line; or by going to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office Facebook page or webpage (njccpo.org) and submitting a tip to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

The three other escapees, Stephine Woodley, Raymir Lampkin and Donovan Nickerson, were caught around 10 a.m. in Bridgeton.

The four stole a car after escaping the Harborfields Youth Detention Facility in Egg Harbor City at 12:20 a.m., according to the Hamilton Township Police Department.

The individuals were identified and photographs were provided as they were "considered to be dangerous," according to the Hamilton Township Police Department.

The manhunt prompted these school districts to close on Wednesday: Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District, Egg Harbor City Public School District, Galloway Township Public Schools, Hamilton Township School District, and Mullica Township School District to close schools.

"Due to an unsafe situation, the police have requested schools be closed today. There is no school today, November 15, 2017," the Egg Harbor City Public School District posted on their website.

Stockton University also issued an alert:

"Stockton Police have confirmed that 3 of the 4 juveniles have been captured. Although 3 of the juveniles were located in Bridgeton, New Jersey, we ask that our community continue to remain vigilant and on heightened alert while law enforcement continues the extensive search for the 4th juvenile, Michael Huggins. Please continue to follow the previous recommendations provided by campus police while this event remains active. If anyone has any information regarding the escaped juveniles, please call the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office at 609-909-7200."

The teens overtook the correctional officers and stole the keys to one of their personal vehicles. Police then chased the four teenagers who lost control of the correctional officer's vehicle and crashed into a house on the 900 block of Beuger Street, according to 6abc. They fled on foot.

Egg Harbor City Mayor Lisa Jiampetti did a robo call with residents around 3:30 a.m. to warn them about the four escapees, although his information wasn't completely accurate.

"I'm calling to let you know that there are four black males at large who have escaped from Harbor Fields detention Center. Please be sure that all your doors and windows are locked and do not open your door for anyone but the police if you see anything suspicious or hear anything please call 965-1200 to report it immediately."

One teen was identified as being 18-years-old, another 17-years-old, and the other two 16. One is described as a black male, 190 pounds, wearing white boxers, cream-colored shirt, and flip flops. The second teen is described as a black male, 5 foot 7 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing cream-colored thermal pants, white boxers, and a thermal shirt, and possibly a white-T-shirt, according to 6abc.

The third teen is described as a white male, 6 foot 2, 175 pounds, wearing white boxers, a thermal shirt, and socks. The fourth teen is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing khaki pants, a black polo with the letters 'AYC,' black sneakers, and possibly pink socks, according to the report.
