Whiz Kid’s Keys to Awesomeness:
Patch: What are you majoring in, and please explain that major briefly.

Taggart: My major is occupational therapy. Occupational therapists allow people to participate in occupations that are meaningful, and optimize independent functioning. Occupational therapists help people overcome barriers (physical, mental, or environmental) with the utilization of various types of interventions.

Patch: What are some of the classes you took last semester?

Taggart: Last semester I completed 18 credits in occupational therapy cases. Some of the courses I took were pathophysiology, evaluation, theory and fieldwork at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Patch: What were your grades and GPA?

Taggart: My GPA last semester was 3.7 and I received A's and A-'s.

Patch: How many times have you been on the Dean's List?

Taggart: Last semester was the fifth semester I have been on the Dean's List.

Patch: Was it always your goal to be on Dean's List?

Taggart: Yes, it is a goal of mine every semester.

Patch: What extracurricular activities do you participate in, and what other honors have you earned?

Taggart: I am in the Student Occupational Therapy Association at school. Last year I was inducted into Pi Theta Epsilon, which is the occupational therapy honors society.

Patch: How does making the Dean's List affect the way you approach the rest of the year?

Taggart: I feel a little pressure to keep my grades up to be on the Dean's List again. However, knowing that I have been able to get on Dean's List in the past, I know I am capable of doing it again. I try to take it one assignment at a time and hope I do well enough to end up with a high enough GPA.
