Black Horse Pike No. 7 In Camden County In Latest School Rankings

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Black Horse Pike Regional School District is ranked No. 146 in the state by data compiler Niche. Niche released its rankings for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday as part of the website's 2020 K-12 rankings.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District, which includes Highland, Timber Creek and Triton high schools, received an overall grade of B. It received an A for clubs & activities and diversity; an A- for teachers and health & safety; a B+ for college prep; and a B- for academics. It was ranked seventh among all school districts in Camden County.

According to Niche, the Black Horse Pike Regional School District has 3,786 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. According to state test scores, 16 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 32 percent in reading.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Although not ranked because it doesn't go up to 12th grade, Niche graded the Gloucester Township K-8 Public School District with a B. It received an A for clubs & activities and diversity; an A- for health & safety; a B+ for teachers; and a B- for academics. It didn't receive a grade for college prep because it is not a high school district.

According to Niche, Gloucester Township has 6,111 students in grades PK, K-8 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. According to state test scores, 37 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 49 percent in reading.

According to Niche, the Glenbrook High Schools District 225 in Illinois is the best school district in the country overall.

With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district a B.
