Gloucester Township Police Remind Residents to Beware of Door-to-Door Peddlers
Residents are advised to report anyone without identification to the police.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Gloucester Township Police are reminding residents to beware of anyone presenting themselves as a hawker, peddler or vendor.
Under township ordinance, all hawkers, peddlers and vendors must file for a license. Once the background investigation is completed, and if approved, they will be issued an identification card which they must wear at all times when soliciting. Soliciting hours are between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. in Gloucester Township.
“If you are approached by a hawker, peddler or vendor that is not displaying identification or is not registered, please contact the Gloucester Township Police Department at 228-4500 (non emergency) or dial 911 for an emergency,” police said in a statement on Monday.

A hawker, peddler and/or vendor includes any person, whether or not a resident of Gloucester Township or not, who is going from house to house, place to place or street to street in the township. They are conveying, transporting or selling goods, products, wares, food or drink or any similar product.
