Teen Charged With Murder Near South Jersey Elementary School: Prosecutor

The 18-year-old shot a young man inside a vehicle at the school, authorities said.

MILLVILLE, NJ — A South Jersey teen was charged Wednesday with murder after authorities discovered a young man's body inside a vehicle outside of a South Jersey elementary school.

Emmanuel B. Doivilus, 18, was apprehended Wednesday for charges relating to the killing of Mark Hoffman, said the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. Officers found Hoffmann, 20, at about 5 a.m. Monday in a vehicle at Millville's Rieck Avenue Elementary School — after he suffered a fatal gunshot wound, authorities said.

Doivilus was charged with murder (first-degree), unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun, second-degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (second-degree), aggravated assault (second-degree) and possessing a weapon on school grounds (third-degree).

The prosecutor's office didn't disclose a potential motivation for the fatal incident. The incident remains under investigation.

Members of the prosecutor's office, Millville Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service arrested Doivilus, who's in the Cumberland County Jail as of Friday morning. The state will move for pretrial detention.
