• Smash-and-Grab Robbery at N.J. Mall Jewelry Store Prompts SWAT Response (instoremag.com) — Police say a thief smashed a jewelry case at Bloomingdale's in The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack on September 22, triggering 911 calls that mistakenly reported gunfire and bringing a SWAT response. No one was hurt, but the suspect escaped with jewelry, part of a wider pattern of daytime smash-and-grabs across New Jersey. Authorities have not yet made any arrests.
