ChildrenSong of New Jersey, a community children's chorus for ages 8-18 based in Haddonfield has had a string of notable performances this season leading up to Carnegie Hall on Saturday, May 13! The choir performed at Christmas Village in Philadelphia, Radio City Music Hall, and recently performed Mass of the Children by John Rutter with NJ MasterChorale and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. ChildrenSong was asked to perform in Carnegie Hall by MidAmerica Productions for the Northern Colorado University Choir's performance of Carmina Burana because they needed a children's choir to sing the ragazzi part in the music. The choir has been working hard to memorize the music in Latin to be fully prepared for the performance. The text used for Carmina Burana is from a collection of early 13th-century songs and poems that was discovered in a Bavarian Monestary in 1803. Carl Orff set the music to some of the poems in the collection, starting and ending the cantata with the most famous movement O Fortuna "O Fate."
ChildrenSong of NJ, under the direction of Haddonfield resident and music teacher Polly Murray celebrates its 23rd season bringing the joy of singing to South Jersey's children since 2000. The choir will present its final concert of the season on Sunday, May 21 at 3:30pm at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Haddonfield. Tickets for adults are $20; seniors and students $15 and children 14 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased by venmo @childrensong or at the door.
