Tyrone, Retired Service Dog, Joins Haddonfield 65 Club

Haddonfield 65 Club President, David Tarditi, announces that retired service dog Tyrone has been confirmed as the honorary 65 Club Service Mascot. Ty is a male Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever mixed breed selected for service dog responsibilities. Canine Companions is the largest provider of service dogs in the world, according to president Tarditi, appointing Tyrone as the club’s service mascot is rather a no-brainer. “He’s going to be conducting his service duties for the club. He’s just perfect for that. And it’s only that natural progression in his life when he moves from being trained to assist people with physical disabilities to stepping down and continuing these duties in retired life. “He has a keen interest in assisting others,” Tarditi said. “Tyrone is a natural member for assisting in club civic and social activities”.

Today, Tyrone has retired back to his original trainer, Haddonfield resident Ms. Marietta Hannagan. When he was 8 weeks old, Tyrone arrived to Marietta’s residence to begin his training progression. He resided with Marietta for 18 months for development and preparation for his duties. While with Marietta, he learned 30 verbal commands. After his Haddonfield residency, Ty was sent to Canine Companions Long Island canine training center for an additional 6 months for an additional 30 verbal command instructions. Upon successful graduation, Tyrone was delivered to a Northern Virginia family with a handicapped, special-needs son. The family relocated to Texas with Tyrone. Attaining his retirement, Tyrone was replaced by another Canine Companions dog to take over Ty’s service duties.

Tyrone’s certified service dog responsibilities are officially completed. He’s reached the mandatory retirement age. Today, after 9 years in his duties, he’s reunited with Marietta, her family, and neighborhood friends. Tyrone has accomplished his life’s journey – he was trained in Haddonfield, Ty departed Haddonfield to fulfill his service responsibilities and has returned to Haddonfield for his senior years.
