Haddonfield Churches Join School Collection Drive For Families in Need

The Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council and Haddonfield churches are hosting the annual Pack-a-Sack back-to-school collection drive.

Haddonfield, NJ -- The Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council and Haddonfield churches are hosting the annual Pack-a-Sack back-to-school collection drive for families in need.

The council is a non-profit that works to address the needs of the homeless in Camden County.

Residents are asked to buy a child-size backpack and fill it with back-to-school items such as pens, pencils, rulers, folders and any other type of school supply children may need.

Many of the children Pack-A-Sack targets are also in need of socks and underwear, according to a post on the website. Supplies are needed by Aug. 23.

Haddonfield’s Lutheran Church of Our Savior Social Ministries Committee has joined the campaign, which has been ongoing for 15 years, according to the Haddonfield Sun. It has asked its Sunday school students to bring in a new supply each month.

It has also made paper bags available to residents to pick up at the church, fill with school supplies, and return by Aug. 21.

Other school supplies can be dropped off at at Grace Episcopal Church in Haddonfield, Cherry Hill’s St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church and Michael’s Lutheran Church, according to the report.

Haddonfield United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield are also part of the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council.
