Women's Empowerment & Charity Event on Sunday Jan. 21 in Cherry Hill

“Women Strike It Strong” is a charitable event at which women of all ages will learn self-defense basics from a martial arts specialist and raise money for women in crisis. This one-of-a-kind, fundraising event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club. Proceeds will benefit the Center for Family Services, a South Jersey-based charity that helps women get back on their feet. Career Wardrobe also will be accepting donations.

Local entrepreneurs Nancy Lipkin Sipera, president of First Impressions Marketing, and Cheryl Squadrito, founder of Media Friendly PR, wanted to give back to the women in the community, and the result is “Women Strike It Strong.” Sipera and Squadrito met through serving on the board of National Association of Women Business Owners, Southern Jersey chapter, and agreed that the collaboration sparked their creativity. They said the initial response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Supporting women is important to me, and I wanted to do something that could make an impact—bigger than just making a donation,” Sipera said.

“This event is for women to empower themselves—moms and daughters, aunts and nieces, friends and family, or any women. The energy that day is going to be inspiring,” Squadrito said, adding that her former students from Temple University will volunteer at the event.

The key event sponsor, GAW Technology, a Cherry Hill manufacturer and supplier of data center racks, was the first to volunteer. Founder Kathy Gaw-Betz immediately offered her company’s financial help. That substantial donation will directly benefit the Center for Family Services. TJ Miller of the Ludus Academy of Martial Arts will lead the self-defense class. Light refreshments and door prizes will be offered at the event.

Financial donations can be made here [Venmo@Nancy-Sipera] without attending the event. Career Wardrobe will be on site to collect new and gently worn business attire for men and women. Participants in the self-defense class should wear comfortable, loose clothing and bring a water bottle.

Women Strike It Strong will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club, 1820 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Tickets are $20 for one, $35 for two.
