37 Chickens Die In Hillsborough Shed Fire

Firefighters arrived to find a shed fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke on Saturday night.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Almost 40 chickens died in a shed fire in Hillsborough on Saturday night.

On Oct. 21 at around 10:16 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to 331 Triangle Road for a report of a structure fire.

Emergency responders found a shed on the property that was fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke, said Hillsborough Police Corporal David Brown.

Firefighters extinguished the fire expeditiously, said Brown.

As a result of the fire, 37 chickens in the shed died. There were no injuries to anyone else. No other structures were damaged.

The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.
