Bedbugs At Somerset County Hotel Ruined Couple's Honeymoon, Lawsuit Says: Reports
A Virginia couple claimed they were awakened by a swarm of bedbugs after checking into the hotel in Franklin, reports said.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A Virginia couple's New Jersey honeymoon was "completely ruined" when they encountered bedbugs at their Somerset County hotel, according to multiple reports citing court documents.
Emmanuel and Edith Ansah of Woodbridge, Virginia, filed a lawsuit against the Courtyard by Marriott in Franklin, claiming they were awakened by a swarm of bedbugs after going to bed the day they checked in, News 12 New Jersey reported.
According to court documents obtained by News 12, the couple claimed to see bedbugs all over their bed and discovered bites on their bodies once they turned on the lights.

The honeymoon then "ended abruptly," the Courier News reported. The couple immediately checked out and returned to Virginia.
The bedbugs “completely ruined (their) honeymoon plans,” the lawsuit obtained by the Courier News stated.

The couple claims they suffered "severe pain" from the bites and "general body discomfort," reports said. The couple requested financial damages, claiming the hotel's actions were "negligent, outrageous and reckless."
