Board of Education President Paul Marini gave an update to residents at the most recent meeting.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The outcome of a criminal investigation into Hillsborough Township Public Schools' finances, launched in December 2021, remains ongoing.

"We still have no formal update from authorities on the investigation that started quite some time ago," said Board of Education President Paul Marini at the July 17 meeting.

Marini noted that the Board promised to give updates to the community on any action or changes related to the investigation started by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

"But we are in a holding pattern waiting for authorities to give us an update. Everything with that is still ongoing," said Marini.

In January, a new Hillsborough Board of Education committee was formed to review the results of the investigation into past district purchases probed by local authorities after an audit into the school district's finances found "multiple instances of concern."
