Driver Crashes Into Oncoming Car On Route 601 In Montgomery: Police

The 17-year-old driver from Skillman was issued a summons for failure to keep right.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A 17-year-old driver who crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed on Route 601 was issued summonses on Wednesday, said Montgomery Police.

On April 17 at 1:56 p.m., Montgomery Police and Montgomery EMS were called to County Route 601 near Skillman Road for a motor vehicle crash with injury.

A police investigation found that a 17-year-old from Skillman was driving north on County Route 601 in a 2021 Lexus GX. The 17-year-old failed to maintain his travel lane while negotiating the Skillman "S" Curve portion of the roadway, said police.

As a result, he entered the opposite lane of traffic and hit a southbound 2021 Toyota Tacoma, which was being driven by a 32-year-old from Villa Park, IL, said police.

The 17-year-old and his 16-year-old passenger were not injured. The other driver had a complaint of pain to his left arm. All parties were evaluated by EMS, and refused medical aid.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The 17-year-old was issued a summons for failure to keep right and is due to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.

Traffic was delayed for around 1 hour for scene investigation and clean-up.
