Excavator Fire Sparks In Hillsborough

Hillsborough firefighters extinguished the flames early on Sunday morning.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — An excavator caught fire early Sunday morning in Hillsborough.

On May 4 at 2:02 a.m., Hillsborough Police Officers responded to 3 Vroom Drive along with the Hillsborough Fire Department for a report of a brush fire.

Officers found that the brush fire had started under an excavator on the property, said Hillsborough Police Captain Scott W. Mc Carthy.

The Hillsborough Fire Department extinguished the flames, and no further property damage was reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and is not deemed suspicious, said Mc Carthy.

IAFF Local 4897 Hillsborough Fire Fighters responded to the fire along with fire marshal and investigators.

"The process includes determining the origin and cause, compiling a report for documentation, and sometimes even educating how to prevent a fire from happening in the future," said the IAFF.
