Explosion Injures Residents At Hillsborough Home
The explosion caused damage to the living room, chimney, walls, and front door.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — An explosion injured residents inside a Hillsborough home on Sunday morning.
At 9:06 a.m., the Hillsborough Police and Fire were called for a report of a fireplace explosion with victims injured at a home on Long Hill Road, said Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1.
Hillsborough police found there was an explosion in the fireplace, causing damage to the living room, chimney, walls, and front door. However, there was no active fire, said Hillsborough Police Captain Scott W. Mc Carthy.

Police got the residents out of the home, said the fire department.
Firefighters checked all levels of the home to make sure everything was safe.

"Firefighters endured bitter cold and icy conditions during the incident," said the fire department.
Several people inside the home suffered minor injuries from the explosion. Robert Wood Johnson EMS treated the victims.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Safety & Hillsborough Police.
Responding units included: Hillsborough Police, Hillsborough Fire Marshals, Hillsborough Fire Department Companies #36, 37, 38, Nesanic Fire Company #48, Hillsborough OEM, and Robert Wood Johnson BLS.
This was one of nine responses the fire department made this weekend — most are related to extreme weather.
