Hillsborough Fire: 2 Dogs Rescued, 2 Cops Treated For Smoke Inhalation

A neighbor reported smoke coming from a townhome complex off Dorchester Court on Saturday afternoon, said police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Two dogs were rescued and two police officers were treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in Hillsborough on Saturday.

On Feb. 10 at around 1:56 p.m., neighbor reported smoke at 54 Dorchester Court, said Hillsborough Township Fire District.

Hillsborough Township Police and Firefighters found the townhome filled with heavy smoke and smoke alarms were sounding.

Officers entered the home to searched the townhome but did not find anyone inside.

A possibility of dogs inside the smoke-filled townhome was reported and firefighters were able to rescue them from the first floor of the townhome.

Firefighters extinguished the fire located in the basement of the townhome. The townhome and units adjacent were evacuated during the fire.

Two Hillsborough Police Officers were treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by detectives from the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.
