Political Officials Condemn Anti-Semitic Flyer In Hillsborough
The flyer denied the existence of the Holocaust. "This hateful rhetoric has no place in our community," said Mayor Frank DelCore.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Political officials are speaking out against an anti-Semitic flyer posted on the Hillsborough Township municipal building last week.
"We take matters such as this seriously," said Hillsborough Mayor Frank DelCore. "Furthermore, I as Hillsborough Township Mayor, along with my fellow Township Committee Members, condemn this type of activity. This hateful rhetoric has no place in our community."
"Our communities are filled with a rich tapestry of people who represent a variety of religious and spiritual beliefs and ethnic backgrounds from all over the world. All deserve to be respected and to feel safe here in the Garden State,"stated Senator Kip Bateman.

The single flyer was posted sometime overnight between Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15 on an entrance door to the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building.
It denied the existence of the Holocaust and referenced an organization called the DailyStormer.name, according to DelCore.

"The flyer, reprehensible in nature, did not pose an immediate threat. The Township does not condone any group postings such as this at the Municipal Complex," stated Hillsborough Police Lt. Mike McMahon.
"I know that the hateful flyer that was found in Hillsborough is not in any way representative of the community," Bateman said. "I condemn the content of the flyer and the intolerance that led to its creation, and I stand with my Jewish brothers and sisters who only want the opportunity to live peaceful lives free of harassment."
The flyer was removed by a township employee and given to the Hillsborough Township Police Department. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police were also notified.
Although not anti-Semetic other hateful fliers, referencing white supremacy, have also been cropping up in the local area. Those fliers were reportedly posted over the last week in towns including Somerville, Bridgewater, Morristown, Bedminster, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, according to mycentraljersey.com.
White supremacist fliers and stickers were also found in the local areas last year. The fliers promoted "Identity Evropa," identified by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as a white supremacy group.
