Hillsborough Police Step Up Patrols Ahead Of 'Day Of Hate'

Social media postings have drawn law enforcement attention nationally, Hillsborough Township Police said, but no real threat has been found.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Police say they have increased patrol presence in the township following social media posts referencing a "National Day of Hate."

"Hillsborough did not receive any threats or information regarding any threats regarding to the 'Day of Hate', however patrol will increase patrol in certain areas of the Twp for 'Police Presence'," said Hillsborough Police Lt. Peter Scholz.

Although there have been no credible threats in Hillsborough Township and New Jersey associated with social media posts circulating that reference a supposed "National Day of Hate" on Saturday, Feb. 25 - many local police departments are taking precautions.

Along with Hillsborough Township, police departments in Warren, Bridgewater and Bernards have also increased enforcement.
