HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Family members and friends of 21-year-old Conor Thomas McLoughlin of Hillsborough came together to walk in a 5K part of "Team Conor" to honor his memory and celebrate his lifesaving impact as an organ and tissue donor.

The June 7 NJ Sharing Network’s 5K Celebration of Life Walk and USATF-sanctioned race in New Providence brought together organ and tissue donor families, transplant recipients, living donors and volunteers.

"Conor passed away in August 2025 following a tragic accident, but the joy, energy, and love he brought to those around him continues to live on," according to NJ Sharing Network. "Conor was known as a fun, charismatic, and hardworking young man with an infectious smile and big goals for his future."

According to the organization, money raised through the event will support the Sharing Network Foundation’s work to advance clinical innovation, provide family support, and expand public education and awareness programs.

The McLoughlin family and Team Conor joined the larger 5K community to honor his memory, celebrate his legacy and support awareness of organ and tissue donation, according to the event information.

NJ Sharing Network and the United Network for Organ Sharing reported that more than 100,000 Americans are awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant, including nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents.

One organ and tissue donor can save eight lives and enhance the lives of more than 75 others.
