New Committeeman Selected To Fill Open Hillsborough Seat
Robert Britting was selected among three candidates to fill Steven Cohen's open seat following his resignation due to his COVID battle.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A new committeeman took a seat at the Hillsborough Township dais on Tuesday night. Dr. Robert Britting was selected by the Hillsborough Township Committee to fill Steven Cohen's open seat after he resigned due to his ongoing battle with long-haul COVID-19.
"I would like to thank Committeeman Cohen for his time on the dais and service to Hillsborough. We always looked forward to his participation and work for Hillsborough," said Mayor Shawn Lipani at the meeting.
The Hillsborough Republican Committee submitted three candidates to the Committee to choose from including Britting, Nathan Santaromita, and John Ciccarrelli.

Britting was unanimously voted onto the committee.
The Republican party previously endorsed Britting on March 7 to run in the upcoming primary election in June after longtime committeeman Frank DelCore declined to seek reelection. Read More: Hillsborough Republicans Endorse Candidate For Township Committee

Britting, of Michelle Lane, is married to Kelly and has three sons, Robert (Robbie), Christian and Grayson.
He has an understanding of government and private sector experience due to his experience serving on the Sustainable Hillsborough Steering Commission, Hillsborough Environmental Commission, and the Hillsborough Board of Adjustment, according to the Republican committee release.
Britting obtained his Master's degree in business from LaSalle University and a doctorate in Organizational Management, with a research focus on human behavior and micro/macroeconomics from Walden University.

"This is a sad day for me. Unfortunately, as a result of work responsibilities and an ongoing battle with long-haul COVID symptoms, I've decided to resign my position from the Township Committee. I realize that my health has to be a top priority," said Cohen in his resignation letter.
