New Officer Joins Police Force, Two More Finish Training In Montgomery

Three officers are now actively part of the Montgomery Police Department for 2025.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — One new officer was sworn in to serve on the Montgomery Police Department and two other officers completed their training allowing them to begin serving on the force.

At the Dec. 19 Montgomery Township Committee meeting, Garrett Stratton was sworn in to Montgomery Police Department as a probationary police officer.

Stratton comes to Montgomery after serving with the South Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

Stratton was supported by family and friends at the ceremony.

Additionally, Montgomery Police recruits Vanessa Hunter and Piper Ford successfully completed their training at the Cape May County Police Academy.

The academy graduation was held on Jan. 10 at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.

The police academy began on Aug. 19, 2024, providing intensive instruction and education on all topics of policing.

Hunter and Ford will now begin their field training programs in the police department, where they will patrol with veteran officers who provide guidance and prepare them to patrol the township and respond to calls on their own.
