Newly Expanded Playground Opens In Hillsborough
The playground has been expanded to include equipment specifically designed to accommodate students with special needs.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A newly expanded playground opened at Triangle Road Elementary Schoollast week.
The playground has been expanded to include equipment specifically designed to accommodate students with special needs, making it a more inclusive and accessible space for all children.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Sept. 13 where 4th Grade role model students, Diya Gatike, Cole Miliano, Kashvi Singh, and Advick Dodigella were selected to represent the Triangle School student body by cutting the ribbon and officially opening the playground.

"We are excited to unveil this playground, which not only enhances our school’s facilities but also represents our dedication to creating a space where all students can thrive," stated Superintendent of Schools Michael Volpe at the ceremony
The expanded inclusive playground is sensory friendly and accessible to all and now features specialized equipment such as sensory play panels, a sensory wave climber, a merry-go-all and a calming space, ensuring that children of all abilities can enjoy outdoor play in a safe and supportive environment.

"This project means so much to our school, our students, and their families. We believe every child should be able to play, learn, and grow together. The new playground makes that vision a reality," stated Principal of Triangle School Anthony Aliperti.
The Hillsborough Township Board of Education approved a proposal from MRC in Spring Lake for a total of $110,775.33 for the additional equipment at its Feb. 12 meeting.
The project was funded by the Triangle Home and School Association, generous donors and the district’s administrative team.
"This playground is a testament to the power of partnership between the school and the community. We are committed to ensuring that all children in our community have access to safe, fun, and accessible play spaces," stated Hillsborough Mayor Robert Britting, Jr. "The new playground is a wonderful resource for our Township, and we are thrilled to see it open."
