See How Hillsborough Voted In Local, County, Congressional Races 2022

Here's a look at how people in Hillsborough voted in the township committee, school board, Somerset County, and District 7 races.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Election day has passed, and just taking a look at how Hillsborough voted - the township leaned more toward the red.

It's important to keep in mind these are the unofficial results for the 2022 general election and may not include absentee ballots, mail-in-votes, and early voting. Final certification of the results must be done by Nov. 26.

Despite that let's take a look at what has come in. For the hotly contested and close New Jersey District 7, Hillsborough Township favored Republican Tom Kean Jr. with 685 votes over Democratic incumbent Malinowski with 447 votes. Kean Jr. did win overall after Malinowski conceded on Wednesday.

Due to the redistricting change, only districts 1, 8, 10, and 30 were part of District 7. The rest of the township now falls under District 12.

The township favored Democratic incumbent Bonnie Watson Coleman with 5,451 over Republican Darius Mayfield with 5,213 votes. Watson Coleman was named the overall winner.

On the county level, while Democratic candidates running for Somerset County Sheriff, Clerk and Commissioner won, according to unofficial results, Hillsborough favored the Republican candidates.

Incumbent Democrat Darrin Russo won overall for another term serving as Somerset County Sheriff. However, Hillsborough favored Republican John Sheridan with 6,066 votes over Russo's 5,750.

The same goes for Somerset County Clerk, where incumbent Democrat Steve Peter won overall yet Hillsborough favored Republican Suzanne Maeder with 5,913 votes over Peter's 5,556 votes.

The Board of County Commissioners also saw the same trend with incumbent Democrat Melanie Marano winning overall yet Hillsborough favored Republican Amber Murad with 5,987 votes over Marano's 5,713 votes.

On the local level, Republicans John Ciccarelli (6,290 votes) and Robert Britting (6,194 votes) won over Ronald Yoder (5,495 votes) and Erynn Murray (5,555 votes) for two township committee seats, according to unofficial results by the Somerset County Clerk.

For the school board, Joel E. Davis, Danny Lee, and Jean Trujillo won over Thomas J. Zobele and Josh Gamse for the three open contested seats, according to unofficial results.

Davis had 5,379 votes, Lee had 5,822 votes and Trujillo had 4,661 votes over Zobele with 3,216 and Gamse with 3,969.
