SOMERSET, NJ — A fundraiser has been set up for a Somerset firefighter who had to respond to a fire at his own home last week.
The fire broke out on Dec. 12 at his Highland Avenue home in Somerset.
"Jhon Lopez did everything he could to hold the fire before Station 25 and 27 responded, but he was unable to stop the blaze from destroying his garage and much of his belongings," Ryan Daughton, president of the East Franklin Fire Department said on the gofundme page.

The fire damaged most of Lopez's tools which he uses to do contracting work to provide for his family.
"We are asking if you can give anything towards our fundraising efforts to help him get some of the tools back he needs to work and provide for his family, we would highly appreciate it," Daughton said.
