'Street Takeover' Draws 250 Cars, Hundreds Of Spectators In Somerset County
Officers from Hillsborough, Princeton, Somerset County Sheriff's Department, and New Jersey State Police responded for crowd control.
MONTGOMERY, NJ — About 250 cars and hundreds of bystanders gathered in Montgomery for a "street takeover" on Tuesday night, said Montgomery Township Police.
On April 16 at around 8:30 p.m., Montgomery Township Patrol Officers went to the CVS parking lot at 2311 Route 206 where they found around 100 vehicles and bystanders present for what is known as a street takeover, during which car owners and enthusiasts showcase their cars.
The lot continued to fill with additional cars and bystanders and officers from Hillsborough, Princeton, Somerset County Sheriff’s Department, and New Jersey State Police were called due to the large crowd.

Officers monitored the gathering for the safety of the local businesses, the public, and the participants. Officers also patrolled the surrounding roads.
At the height of the street takeover, about 250 vehicles and hundreds of participants were present, said police.

During the event no injuries were reported or observed, no property was damaged, no arrests were made and all participants were peaceful. The event came to an end at around 10 p.m.
The only incident was the report of several vehicles seen racing on Belle Mead-Griggstown Road after they left the event, said police.
Montgomery Police stopped the vehicles on Green Avenue. One of the vehicles, a silver 2004 Nissan was seen by officers to be driving recklessly, said police.
The driver was identified as Andrew Hobbs out of Kendall Park. He was issued summonses for reckless driving, careless driving, and disregard of a stop sign.
