Here Are 5 New Restaurants To Try That Opened In North Jersey In August

NORTH JERSEY — Dozens of new eateries have opened in North Jersey this summer, from small coffee shops to two Asian fusion restaurants.

Fire Phoenix Asian Fusion

Basking Ridge has a new Asian fusion restaurant. Fire Phoenix Asian Fusion opened at 576 Allen Road in the Hills section of town last month. The owners say it's a fusion of Thai and Asian cuisine. The menu includes lo mein, chow fun, udon, soba, pad Thai, Hibachi, and more. See the Patch story here.

Royal Mint Restaurant

Royal Mint Restaurant, an Indian fusion eatery, opened its doors in West Orange in mid-August. The eatery says, "We fuse the tandoor with the tavern: Indian spice and technique alongside burgers, wings, and a cocktail list built for late nights." Colonia Grill

The Colonia Grill food truck in Morristown, which has ben open for more than a decade, now has a brick-and-mortar location. The Afro-Colombian, father-and-son-owned business recent opened its storefront at 210 Hudson St. in downtown Jersey City. At the same toe. they're keeping their trucks in Morristown and Hoboken. The eatery serves up a Patacon "Plantain" Burger, Cheesesteak De Maduro, and Steak and Fries. Read more here.

Sober Shot

Several mom-and-pop coffee shops that started in either Jersey City or Hoboken have opened a their second location in the other town. This month, Sober Shot, a unique beverage spot in downtown Jersey City, opened its Hoboken site. The new spot — which is only a grab-and-go location on the city's main drag — focuses on crafted beverages and flavorings including Japanese matcha, Nutella, and butterfly pea flower. Sober Shot replaces the former Smart Cleaners and Alterations at 1200 Washington St. Read more here.

Forum Coffee

Speaking of Hoboken and Jersey City coffee spots that have expanded, Forum Coffee has been doing just that in North Jersey. The group of shops, with ten locations in the Garden State, specializes in a range of coffee beverages, such as a creme brûlée latte singed with a blowtorch. They also serve up ice cream desserts. Last week, they were asked to open in the lobby of the Sable (formerly Urby) residential tower in Jersey City, the owner told Patch. The company moved quickly to set up shop in the spot, located at 200 Greene St., near the Harborside light rail stop. The Sable lobby has workspaces and even newspapers to read while you sip your coffee. You can find out more about the newest location of Forum here.
