Bomb Squad Helps Remove WWII Weapon From Hoboken Building
A bomb squad removed a WWII-era weapon from a college-affiliated building in Hoboken Thursday.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A piece of World War II-era weaponry was removed from a Hoboken building affiliated with a local university on Thursday, officials said.

A joint statement from Hoboken's police and fire departments, along with the Stevens Institute of Technology, said that during a "routine inspection" on the 500 block of Hudson Street, a Stevens-affiliated property, "inspectors with the Hoboken Fire Department identified a World War II–era ordnance."

"The Hoboken Police Department, Hoboken Fire Department, and Stevens Institute of Technology coordinated, as the Jersey City Bomb Squad conducted a standard safety evaluation and ultimately removed the ordnance."
Officials said around 5 p.m. that there was no threat to public safety and the scene was cleared.

The campus is located in the area of 500 Hudson St., overlooking the Hudson River.
