Road Closed In Hoboken Due To ‘Serious Incident’: Update

A forensic tent was set up on Hudson Street in Hoboken for a police investigation.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A block of Hudson Street in Hoboken was closed late on Thursday morning due to a police investigation.

A forensic tent was seen on the east side of the street, across the street from Elysian Park. Portions of the sidewalks on both sides of the street were closed.

Public Safety spokesperson Marci Rubin told Patch that at approximately 10:30 a.m., Hoboken police, fire, and EMS units responded to the 1100 block of Hudson Street.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area while an investigation is underway, she said. She said there is no threat to the public.

After noon, Mayor Emily Jabbour gave this statement:

"Earlier today, the Hoboken Public Safety Department responded to a serious incident in the uptown area that required an immediate and coordinated response. Members of the Fire Department, Police Department, and EMS arrived on scene quickly to provide aid. I want to thank them for their professionalism, compassion, and dedication in handling a very difficult situation. Our thoughts are with the individual's loved ones during this incredibly challenging time. Incidents of this nature can have an impact not only on those directly affected, but also on neighbors, and the broader community."

She added, "I recognize that moments like this can be unsettling, and I want to encourage anyone who may be struggling or in need of support to reach out to available resources and look out for one another. This matter remains under active investigation and at this time, the Hoboken Police Department is working to gather all relevant information. Out of respect for those involved, I am asking the Hoboken community to allow the space necessary for this process and to be mindful of privacy considerations."
