Did Hoboken's Mike Turner Win Survivor 42? No, It's Maryanne Oketch

Former Hoboken Firefighter Mike Turner appeared on the "Survivor" finale Wednesday, but the winner was Maryanne Oketch from Ontario.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Did former Hoboken Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Turner win season 42 of "Survivor"? On Wednesday night, it was revealed that the winner was Maryanne Oketch from Ontario.

"Contemplating being in the final 5. Humbled by this experience," was what Turner Tweeted on Friday.

On Wednesday, he Tweeted, "Beyond proud reppin’ my two kids on #Survivor42 Missing their graduation from @wesleyan_u because I was on the island was one of the hardest things about the experience !!!!!!"

Later, he posted a video thanking all of his supporters, including in Hoboken and Millstone.

Oketch is a seminary student from Ajax, Ontario.

Although Turner didn't win the $1 million, he proved a popular competitor and could be back on future seasons. Host Jeff Probst recently said he'd like to bring cast members back in the future.

He's had ups and downs during this season, including having to sit through a torrential downpour.

He's not the only Jerseyan who made the final 5 on the island. Lindsay Dolashewich, a dietician from Asbury Park, also made it to the finale.
