When one restaurant closes its doors, another opens. Here are five restaurants that opened in North Jersey in the last several weeks.
NORTH JERSEY, NJ — Have you ever seen so much fog and rain in one month? But January 2024 wasn't all gloomy — several new restaurants opened in and around that month. Here are five to try if you're heading north.
Around The Clock Diner

Bivio Pizzeria Napoletana
Bivio Pizzeria Napoletana was well known in Montclair before it closed in 2022. It reorganized and reopened on Jan. 19. It's located at 107 Pine St. Find out more here.

PachaMama
Technically, this one just opened, in February. PachaMama, a Latin American restaurant and bar, was slated to open Friday, Feb. 2, in Somerset County. The address is 215 Route 22 in Green Brook (which was formerly Tacos El Tio). Find out more here.
Maru Sushi
Just before January, Maru Sushi announced it had opened in Ridgewood. Besides the traditional rolls, signature rolls, and fresh sashimi, they have limited seating for omakase, a timed sushi experience in which chefs prepare and hand a series of sushi items to seated guests. La Colina Mexican Cantina
La Colina Mexican Cantina in Warren announced it would expand to a second location in Cranford in January. The new spot is to be located at 2 S Avenue W in Cranford. Find out more here.
Guess Who's Nominated For A James Beard?
Three New Jersey chefs or restaurants were nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award last week, and only one was in North Jersey. Nur-E Gulshan Rahman is the chef at her family-owned Bangladeshi restaurant in Jersey City. "Words can not express how proud I am of my mom and our amazing team," gushed her daughter and co-owner, who noted that Rahman has no formal training. Read about the nomination here.
