A Hoboken man was charged with the sex assault of students in Jersey City and Union City, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken man who taught in public schools in Jersey City and Union City has been sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading guilty last year to the sexual assaults of two teenage students in those districts, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Francisco Realpe, 46, pleaded guilty last June to two counts of sexual assault, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

This past Friday, Jan. 6, Judge Carlo Abad sentenced Realpe to New Jersey State Prison, where he will serve two concurrent four-year sentences.

Realpe is subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life, prosecutors said. They said he has forfeited his right to future public employment, and both victims have permanent restraining orders in place.

Prosecutors said that the first victim reported being sexually assaulted in November 2019 while Realpe was a teacher at Dickinson High School in Jersey City.

Shortly after Realpe’s arrest, the second victim reported having been sexually assaulted in 2004 while a student at Union Hill High School in Union City, prosecutors said.

Both victims were 17 at the time of the assaults, prosecutors said.

The state was represented by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Jane Weiner.

“The Special Victims Unit is thankful for the cooperation of the victims who were brave enough to come forward and disclose the crimes committed on them,” said Weiner. “As a teacher, the defendant is held to a higher standard of professionalism and a sentence of incarceration is appropriate in this matter.”
