Hoboken Man Slashed in Face with Box Cutter During Argument

Multiple box cutter assaults have taken place in Hoboken over the past two months.

A Hoboken resident was slashed with a box cutter during an assault on Monday, marking at least the third slashing-related assault committed during the past two months.

According to Hoboken police, around 8 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male bleeding from his face on Washington Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw the man sitting on a bench, bleeding from a five-inch laceration on his head behind his ear and a smaller cut on his upper left cheek.

The man told police that the injury happened while he was arguing over a female with his acquaintance.

Police transported the man to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police later identified and arrested Vincent Clark, 44, of Jersey City, in connection with the assault. He was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and four outstanding warrants.

Monday’s incident is the third assault with a box cutter reported by the Hoboken police in the past two months.
