Hoboken School Aide Not Indicted For Alleged Rough Treatment Of Child

The woman, a former employee at the Hoboken Apple Montessori School, was not indicted for the alleged mistreatment.

A Hoboken Montessori school aide will not face indictment for her alleged mistreatment of a toddler in her care in June, authorities stated on Thursday.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office stated that a grand jury declined to indict a former teacher’s aide at the Hoboken Apple Montessori School for roughly putting a hat on a two-year-old student at the school.

The accusations of mistreatment came after a cell phone video of the incident surfaced online.

The grand jury’s decision should not be interpreted to mean that the behavior shown in the video is “acceptable,” the HCPO stated.

The school fired the former teacher’s aide along with four other employees in June.

Later that month, a pair of Hoboken parents filed a lawsuit against the school in connection with the incident.

The parents sought unspecified damages from Apple Montessori Schools and several employees for negligence, emotional damage, breach of contract and assault.

A grand jury also returned a decision regarding another employee of the school who was the subject of a video clip with another toddler in the outdoor play area, prosecutors stated.

The HCPO declined to provide the decision in that case, but stated it will release the information at a later date, NJ.com reported.
