WATCH: Video Shows Teacher Allegedly 'Roughing Up' Toddler

The video, which was shot at the Apple Montessori School in Hoboken, shows one of the teachers grabbing a 23-month-old girl.

A cellphone video showing a teacher at a Montessori school in New Jersey aggressively handling a toddler has upset parents who believe the employee should have been fired immediately.

The video, which was shot from a high-rise window above the Apple Montessori School in Hoboken, shows one of the teachers grabbing a 23-month-old girl and “roughly” attempting to put a hat on her head, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The teacher aggressively picks up the child and pushes her to the ground, leaving her lying there as other children play around her, according to the report.

The child in the video is the daughter of Brett Stenhouse, who saw the video for the first time when it was shown to him by NBC4 in New York. He said he’s shaken but said the little girl is doing fine.

“It was really disturbing,” Stenhouse told NBC4. “We’re being told that there had been an incident. I didn’t expect it to be as severe as it actually was.”

The video was captured in May, but Stenhouse said he found out about it Wednesday. The person who shot the video wrote to NBC4, saying she was told the teacher would be placed on “working probation” for 30 days. That means she would be able to remain on site and working, according to the report.

Parents who were familiar with the incident said they are upset.

A Facebook user named “Sarah Elizabeth” noted that the video was posted by a “local mom” and said the school’s response to this behavior is “disgusting.”

“This is absolutely unacceptable to me as a parent and I feel this is grounds for immediate dismissal from her position. Please, share this if you can, as daycare abuse is something any parent is worried about and if this woman is willing to do this out in public, imagine what happens behind closed doors.”
