Jersey City Is 2nd ‘Most Diverse’ In Nation: Study
5 New Jersey municipalities cracked the top 100 on a list of the "most diverse cities" in the U.S.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A New Jersey municipality was named one of the “Most Diverse Cities” in the nation as part of a recent study from financial information provider WalletHub.
Jersey City ranked as the 2nd most diverse municipality in the U.S. for 2019, coming behind only Houston, Texas. Other New Jersey municipalities to rank high on the study for their “diversity” included:
- Clifton - #18
- Newark - #47
- Elizabeth - #74
- Trenton - #87
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Provo, Utah ranked as the least diverse city in the U.S., coming in at #501, WalletHub reported.

To reach their conclusions, WalletHub compared the profiles of more than 500 of the largest cities in the U.S. across five major diversity categories: “socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious.”
