• NJTransit: From Oct. 11-Nov. 14, All Midtown Direct Trains Will Operate To/From Hoboken (villagegreennj.com) — If you commute through Hoboken, expect big changes from October 11 to November 14 as all weekday Midtown Direct trains on key NJ Transit lines are diverted to Hoboken Terminal. Riders must buy Hoboken-destination tickets and use cross-honored ferries, buses, or PATH to reach Midtown, with different rules on weekends and for various ticket types.
   

• Hoboken City Council Takes Action on Noise Ordinance, Bar Hours for Special Events, + More (hobokengirl.com) — Hoboken's City Council just reversed its new amplified-sound permit rules for the uptown waterfront after legal concerns, while pledging to strengthen enforcement of existing noise laws. Councilmembers also rejected longer bar hours for major sporting events and approved an $11.19 million bond for public safety vehicles, infrastructure equipment, HVAC work, and other city upgrades that residents will notice over time.
   

• Lincoln-ready robot: an interview with one of L.I.N.C.'s creators (thestute.com) — A team of Stevens Institute students in Hoboken designed an autonomous robot, L.I.N.C., to help inspect the Lincoln Tunnel's catwalks and tied for top honors with New York Institute of Technology. One team member describes months of design, machining and testing, including an overnight tunnel trial, as a crash course in real-world engineering and project management.
