UPDATE: Cable Failure Causes Power Outage In Hoboken, PSEG Says

The outage affected almost 1,000 Hoboken customers for about two hours, PSEG officials said.

Almost 1,000 Hoboken residents in the northwest part of the city found themselves without power on Tuesday due to a cable failure, authorities reported.

A PSE&G spokeswoman sent Patch the following statement about the outage on Tuesday morning:

“In Hoboken this morning, 960 customers lost power at 4:38 a.m. Power was restored at 6:38 a.m. There was a failure in a cable feeding a substation. We were able to switch the customers over to a different breaker while we made permanent repairs to the cable.”

The City of Hoboken issued the following alert via Nixle at 5:36 a.m. on Tuesday:

“A power outage is affecting customers in northwest Hoboken. PSE&G has been notified and is responding to the situation.”
