Sleet And Slippery Commute Predicted For Hoboken Friday: Find Out When It Starts
An inch of rain is possible as well as "several hours of freezing rain, sleet, and snow" from Thursday night into Friday.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Both the morning and evening commutes could be slippery Friday if a prediction from the National Weather Service for "several hours of freezing rain, sleet, and snow" bears out. And in a county that has suffered from several bouts of flooding, three quarters to an inch of rain are forecast for Thursday night, about half of what was initially predicted for Tropical Depression Ida.
Hudson County is also under a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m. Thursday.
The hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service for Hudson County says:

"Rain Thursday night will change to a wintry mix from northwest to southeast, with several hours of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. This will lead to ice accretion on any untreated surfaces, making travel hazardous potentially for both the morning and evening commutes on Friday."
The current National Weather Service forecast for Hoboken says:

Thursday Night: Rain. Widespread fog. Steady temperature around 43. Southeast wind 5 to 11
mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Friday: Rain before 3 p.m., then rain or freezing rain likely between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., then
rain, snow, and freezing rain likely after 5 p.m. Temperature falling to around 32 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. Little
or no snow accumulation expected.
Friday Night: Snow and freezing rain likely before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 19. North wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
