Here Are 10 Restaurants Opening In Hoboken And Jersey City This Summer
From Italian/Japanese fusion to popsicles, 10 restaurants recently opened or just announced openings in Hoboken and Jersey City, NJ.
HOBOKEN AND JERSEY CITY, NJ — Times are a-changing in Hoboken and Jersey City's business districts, where several restaurants have closed but many more are opening. The new eateries offer everything from Vietnamese delicacies to goumet ice cream on a stick.
At least 10 new restaurants have opened in summer 2023 or announced plans to open by mid-September. Here are the ones we've learned of (know of more local business openings or closings? Tell Patch.)
In Hoboken

Boomerang Bites, the Jersey City-based Australian bakery, is expanding to Hoboken. They're taking over the former Hoboken Pizza Lab spot at 152 Washington St., a block behind City Hall.
Icy Melon offers crepes, waffles, bowls, fruity desserts, smoothies, and tea, next to the upcoming Saka Sushi. They're located at 620 Washington St. and have a location in Edison. Find out more here.

Lemongrass is a newly open Vietnamese retaurant serving up Pho, Banh Mi sandwiches, bubble tea, and more. Find it at 732 Washington St.
Morelia Paletas, a Mexican Ice Cream Shop based in Florida, will serve gourmet popsicles in varieties such as s'mores and passion fruit. Taking over the old Spesh salon spot at 932 Washington St., they'll open by the first week in September. Find out s'more about them here.
Purple Rice isn't a Prince song. The business at 832 Washington St. is replacing the Pastrami House and hoping to open soon.
7th Street Burger, a New York City chain, recently opened at 410 Washington St. in Hoboken, in place of Happy Vegan. But there's still something for veggies — their straightforward, short menu (see photo above) offers Impossible fries, besides the hamburgers and cheeseburgers.
Saka Sushi & Hibachi in Hoboken is replacing Myron Mixon Barbecue at 618 Washington St. They recently hoisted their signage.
Toast x Bowl, Hoboken: Healthy rice bowls, special sandwiches, fruity beverages, coffee, and baked goods. Located at 328 Washington St. Read more about them here.

In Jersey City
Who is Jane Doe? Last week, an upscale space opened up in downtown Jersey City to answer that question. The Italian/Japanese fusion restaurant touts homemade pasta, fish dishes, filet mignon, and cocktails for guests who are 21 and over. Find it at 333 Newark Ave.
And here's a unique Jersey City space of a different kind. City Bagel opened in June in a converted 1800s home at 301 Newark Ave., with wood floors and a sunsplashed patio in back. It offers deli sandwiches, coffee, and of course, baked goods. Find out more here.
