HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Liberty State Park has space, wildlife, educational programming, playgrounds, and even a beach in Hudson County - 1,212 acres of it, to be exact.
But should some of it be privatized, home to amusements and entertainment? And how should it change? Debate has raged.
The next meeting starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9.

The Friends of Liberty State Park, a longtime nonprofit group to preserve the park, said, "Please critically continue to express your views in this crossroads planning process on evolving DEP consultants' proposals and to keep zealously opposing billionaire Fireman's Sports and Entertainment Complex."

Liberty State Park opened during the bicentennial year 1976. Over the years, activist groups have attempted to steer the park away from potential overdevelopment and commercialization.
