Bayshore Raises Flag in Honor of Blue and Green Day

Blue and Green Day promotes organ donation and honors donors

Holmdel, NJ. Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center today raised the NJ Sharing Network Flag over the hospital in honor of Blue and Green Day and Donate Life Month. During Blue and Green Day, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green, hold events and fundraisers, and partner with local restaurants, malls, media, and community organizations in an effort to promote organ, eye and tissue donation and the extreme need for registered donors.

National Blue and Green Day is part of Donate Life Month, celebrated in April each year, featuring an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.

“When one donor can save up to eight lives, the gift we’re promoting today is immeasurable – the gift of life,” said Frank Citara, Chief Health Executive of Bayshore Medical Center. “We are privileged to work so closely with The Sharing Network in addressing the statewide need for donors. Our past efforts have earned us Platinum Status with the Network and we don’t plan on slowing down. Every person who registers as a donor can have a vast and lasting impact on others.”
