Fire Breaks Out In Holmdel Home Wednesday Morning
Breaking: The home on Bayberry Drive suffered significant damage, but is still standing. Holmdel firefighters got to the scene in 11 minutes
HOLMDEL, NJ — A home on Bayberry Drive in Holmdel was damaged by a fire that broke out Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at 5:51 a.m. Wednesday morning, July 3, Holmdel police said. A neighbor walking their dog called 911 after they saw smoke coming from the roof.
Once the officers arrived, heavy smoke was seen coming from the roof and filling the home, said police. Police entered the home and searched for occupants, however the house was unoccupied at the time the fire started.

Holmdel volunteer firefighters arrived on scene within 11 minutes of that 911 call, said Holmdel police Lt. Rob Philhower, the public information officer for the police department.
In late January of this year, a home on Blue Hills Drive in Holmdel was completely destroyed by a fire. The homeowner and his two dogs were able to escape the burning structure safely, however high winds that day rapidly spread the flames throughout the entire home and it had to be leveled to the ground.

In that fire, it took the all-volunteer Holmdel fire department 20 minutes to get to the scene; the 911 call was received at 1:31 p.m. and Holmdel Fire and Rescue Company #2 arrived on scene at 1:52 p.m., according to Holmdel police.
In today's fire, Holmdel was assisted by Union Beach, Hazlet, Middletown and Keansburg Fire and First Aid.
There were no injuries.
The home was not destroyed by the fire. It suffered significant damaged, but the structure is still standing, said Holmdel police. There was damage to the roof and second floor. While the fire started on the roof, its exact cause is unknown at this point.
