Hazlet Goodwill Store Set To Open Thursday

HAZLET, NJ - Goodwill is slated to open a Hazlet location on Jan. 14, citing a need for a larger space amid pandemic donations.

The store and donation center will call Hazlet Plaza home, located on Route 35 and Poole Avenue. It’s the former location of Toys-R-Us.

The Aberdeen location on Cliffwood Avenue will shut its doors permanently on Jan. 13.

The establishment reportedly needs the extra 6,000 square feet of space that the Hazlet location offers due to the influx of donations received during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement from Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia President and CEO Mark B. Boyd in a news release.

“Our inventory is at an all-time high right now,” Boyd said. “We have been blessed with a dramatic increase in donations since the pandemic began. People are decluttering at a rate we have never seen before. This, along with plenty of additional space, creates an incredibly vast inventory for our bargain savvy shoppers.”

In June 2020, Harbor Freight Tools took over the other half of the Hazlet building, which totals a whopping 35,500 square feet, according to the Asbury Park Press.

There are two other Goodwill locations in Monmouth County, found in Ocean Township and Atlantic Highlands.
