Robbery at TD Bank in Hazlet Township

A woman from Florida has been arrested and charged with second degree robbery.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says Victoria Vega, 25, of Kissimmee, Fla. has been arrested and charged with robbery in the second degree of TD Bank in Hazlet on Friday afternoon.

Deputy First Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Richard Incremona said  Keansburg police took a man and a woman into custody Friday around 6 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop in their borough. Keansburg police were looking out for a car identified by police. Only the woman was arrested, he said.

Incremona declined to provide more details of the case.

The FBI was working with the county Prosecutor's office, Hazlet and Keansburg police departments, said Incremona.

The robbery occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the bank branch located at 16 Bethany Road, near Route 35, said a TD Bank spokesman Jimmy Hernandez. "Thankfully none of our employees or customers were hurt," he said. He declined to say more, citing the pending investigation by police.

According to Breaking News Network, witnesses said two suspects at TD Bank implied they had a gun, demanded $3,000 and fled on foot toward the train station. BNN also reported that police were seeking a grey Nissan Zion. Police will not comment on these details.

Around 5:30 p.m. TD Bank was cordoned off with police tape. Several police cars blocked the entrance and were parked in the lot. Officers were taking statements from employees inside the glass walled building.
