Holmdel Man Saved by Narcan
Police were called to a Holmdel Twp. home Thursday night for a call of an unconscious man who overdosed on narcotics.

HOLMDEL, NJ - At approximately 11:41 p.m. Thursday, three Holmdel officers, Sergeant William Bernard, Patrolman John Maguire and Patrolman John Allen, responded to a private home in Holmdel for a call of an unconscious man who overdosed on narcotics.
Officers found the 26-year-old Holmdel man on the bathroom floor, unresponsive with a weak pulse and shallow breathing. The officers administered naloxone hydrochloride (Narcan) and performed rescue breathing until the Holmdel First Aid Squad arrived.
The man regained consciousness at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Bayshore Community Hospital for further treatment. It is becoming common nowadays for police officers to carry Narcan kits, and to frequently use them, as the opiate and heroin problem increases in New Jersey and nationwide. Aberdeen Township police had to administer Narcan to save a woman's life there in February.
