Protect Yourself From Scams: Hazlet Offers Program
The Hazlet Recreation Department is sponsoring a free program on fraud prevention on Tuesday Sept. 13.
HAZLET, NJ — The Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs and its certified investigators will present a free program on how to combat fraud, protect yourself from scams and prevent problems before they occur.
"Combat Fraud & Protect Yourself from Scams" will take place Tuesday, Sept. 13., from 11 a.m. to noon at the James J. Cullen Center, 1776 Union Ave., in Hazlet.
A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.

Lunch will be provided.

The Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs' team of certified investigators responds to consumer complaints and enforces the Consumer Fraud Act. Investigators will facilitate mediation between consumers and businesses when possible. If warranted, cases may be turned over to Special Council for subpoena, fines or prosecution.
The Department of Consumer Affairs exists under the authority of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners. Commissioner Lillian Burry is liaison to the department. Since its inception in 1977, the Division has handled tens of thousands of complaints, and mediated millions of dollars in restitution back to Monmouth County residents.
